Live Photo's: The Urges, The Doo Wrongs & The Vagabonds live @ The Retro Revival Club

It was a busy week on the photo front and Saturday last I snapped three excellent bands at The Retro Revival Club in Sweeney's on Dame Street, Dublin.

The Doo Wrongs & The Vagabonds played support to The Urges, whose organic psychedelic garage rock distinguishes them as a must see band and the best part about it all is they are local. Steve Van Zandt signed The Urges to his Wicked Cool label two years ago and re-released their debut Psych Ward, an album of sharp rock n roll and cool garage rock. The Urges are off on tour elsewhere these days but be sure to check them out when they hit a town near you.

In the meantime you can see some shots I took of them live and the full set HERE.

Photo's: Graham Day & The Gaolers live @ The Retro Revival Club

For those of you in attendance at the Graham Day & The Gaolers gig in Sweeney's (formerly Le Cirk) you will certainly agree that it was a fantastic performance. Graham Day is somewhat of a legend when it comes to the garage rock scene and received a hero's welcome when he took to the stage on Saturday night. He even managed to play three Prisoners songs much to the delight of the animate crowd. Here are some snap shots I took on the night with more of the excellent support bands The Revellions & The Bloody Shanks to follow...

The Retro Revival club present Graham Day & The Gaolers

If blistering garage rock is your thing then you won't want to miss the next Retro Revival Club night on May 8th in Le Cirk. Authentic as it gets when it comes to garage rock, Graham Day & The Gaolers are set to headline proceedings and they already boast an army of fans from Steve Lamacq, Ian Brown and the Horrors to Noel Gallagher, but don't let the latter put you off.

Graham Day has played with Billy Childish & The Buff Medways and Thee Mighty Caesars, as well as lend a hand as a producer on albums for The Len Price Three and The Discords. Alongside Dan Elektro and Buzz Hagstrom from legendary US garage band The Woggles, you get Graham Day & The Gaolers. A band that will certainly charm you if nothing else.
Support on the night comes from The Revellions and The Bloody Shanks. Doors 9pm and tax is €8.

Thee Vicars are coming to town...

They are a vivacious quartet from the UK who play tremendous raw rock n' roll, garage and 60's influenced R & B, ladies and gents it is your duty to check out Thee Vicars.

These boys have two albums under their belt (Back On The Street & Psychotic Beat) and a handful of E.P's/singles, which is great going for a band only 3 years together.

Fans of The Sonics, Thee Mighty Caesars The Horrors and The Black Lips will love Thee Vicars and after seeing them live in the legendary 100 Club back in January, I am delighted that next Saturday, April 17th you also can catch them live for one night only @ The Retro Revival Club in Le Cirk on Dame Street. Support on the night comes from Cheap Freaks and local garage favourites The Mighty Atomics.
Door tax is €5.

Steve Van Zandt to broadcast his radio show live from Tower Records, Dublin on July 12th.

The Urges @ The Academy, May '08

This is a pretty cool scoop for Tower Records on Wicklow Street, as July 12th is the day Steve Van Zandt of The E Street band fame or even more famously known as Silvio Dante in The Soprano's, broadcasts his Little Steven's Undergound Garage show live from Tower Records on Dublin City FM.

Also on the day two excellent live bands, The Urges (pictured above) and Len Price Three shall take to the Tower stage. Both bands are currently signed to Steve's Wicked Cool label in the USA alongside The Woggles and The Chesterfield Kings and highlights the best of today's modern Garage scene.
