A small intimate show with 70 people attended this stunning low light show from Halves. They were supported by excellent local quirky folk duo The Ambience Affair. The main means of lighting throughout the show was from image projection and candles hence the a lot of silhouettes and low light shots!
I like the idea for this year's launch of the Hard Working Heroes Festival taking place in a variety of independent record shops who, not only support up and coming musicians but help give them a break in some way or another. This evening shall see three different performances in three different record shops. Starting at 6.15pm this evening in Freebird Records (The old Secret Book & Records Shop) on Wicklow Street,Biggles Flys Again opens the proceedings. At 6.45pm Dublin based duo The Ambience Affair take on the crowds inRoad Records, Fade Street, with the promised treat of free chips to fill your bellies and lastly, at 7.15pm Belfast band And So I watch You From Afar take to the stage in Tower Recordson Wicklow Street and this time the food treat is Pizza.
During the launch more details of this years festival shall be announced and musicians can get more details on how to apply to be part of this years line-up as well as aspiring music photographers. For more info check out the HWCH website.
Cover versions can be pretty hard to get right. However Dublin based band The Ambience Affairmanaged to perform a very credible version ofGrizzly Bear'sService Bell (from Horn Of Plenty), at their gig in Whelan's last Friday night and also featured the vocal talents of Elaine Kelly from the delightful Carnival Moon. The Ambience Affair plan on re-releasing their Fragile Things EP on June 1st which shall feature a new track titled Mockery. Check out their version of Service BellHERE and video to Vacant HeartsHERE
